OK food, but $$ over priced

Guess I am ruined being from east Texas where anywhere you go you can get good food for 1/2 what Kathy charges. Chicken fried steak from Ma Goodsons in Tomball (home of the best CF in Texas) with all the trimmings (corn on the cob, mashed potatoes, beans and cornbread or homemade biscuits) costs about $7.95 including sweet tea. Come down a little and I shall return.

If you don't like Kathy's, you don't know good food

Expect to shell out $25 a head for a meal, but the portions are large and the food is incredible. Don't expect a fancy atmosphere or waiter in a tux. This place is real, down home southern goodness. Everything is always juicy and mouth watering. I go now and ask the cook to make something for me, I don't even need to look at the menu, and everything is so good, it's too hard to decide. The tea, lemonade and all the desserts are also fabulous, I can't resist the peach cobbler!

It used to be ok, but it is waayyy over priced!

I used to eat there often for years. Then their main seller, Chicken Fried Steak, was never in stock and then they took it off the menu without explanation. The side portions are tiny and wayyyy over priced. However, I understand that having a business in Las Vegas is expensive. Then they get an attitude when you don't want anything else on the menu. It is a shame that a place has a number one dish and then stop selling it. I still wonder how they stay open when people would go there SPECIFICALLY for that dish! I haven't eaten there in a year and not missing it anymore.

Never Again!

I told my boyfriend about Kathy's and wanted him to eat there because he lived in New Orleans for 15 years and misses the great food. We were both shocked at the pricey menu. But the kicker was the server who made no secret of how perturbed he was that I ordered an appetizer portion of gumbo instead of the regular portion. He said, "I don't know if she [referring to the cook I assume] is going to want to do that. You're not supposed to order only an appetizer." WTF?! We couldn't believe it! Then when he brought the gumbo, he made ANOTHER rude comment about how reluctant the cook was to serve only an appetizer portion. I'm a native Las Vegan and NEVER had I ever been treated this blatantly rude and scoffed at for ordering something! I will NEVER eat at Kathy's again. The food was good, but the horrible service left a bad taste in our mouths.

AMAZING!!!

I am NOT from the south so I can't compare it to Grandmas. My grandparents where Irish immigrants. BUT I have traveled the world over and I CAN say without a doubt, the best fried chicken, yams, and bread pudding I have EVER tasted! The green beans had the most amazing flavor too! Homemade cornbread! A friend ordered the smothered steak and it was incredible! Even better than M&M's. Although M&M's has fan-freaking-tastic cornbread stuffing. Next time I go to Kathy's, I will try the ribs. I am from Kansas City originally so I don't think ANYTHING in Vegas could ever come close to the BBQ I am used to but I will let you know how Kathy's compares.
